Good news for veterans: 2027 VA disability rates are estimated to increase by 3.9% on December 1, 2026, payable starting January 1, 2027.

However, the 2027 VA disability rates are not official yet. The final 2027 COLA won’t be announced by the Social Security Administration until the middle of October 2026, after the government reviews the key inflation data from July, August, and September CPI-W data. Experts are suggesting the 2027 COLA could be between 3.8% and 4.2%.

So for now, these numbers are just estimates. We took the official 2026 VA disability pay rates and applied a projected 3.9% COLA so you can get a realistic idea of what your 2027 monthly VA compensation could look like based on your rating and dependent status.

No. VA disability compensation is tax-free at both the federal and state level. You do not report VA disability pay as taxable income.
